39-year-old French TV producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier was murdered outside her holiday home in West Cork, Ireland, on the night of 23 December 1996. Ian Bailey, a journalist who was covering the story, was the prime suspect, but did not go to trial due to insufficient evidence.
Years later, he was charged with murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison in France – however Ireland’s High Court ruled he could not be extradited. With interviews from du Plantier’s loved ones and Bailey himself, this three-part series delves into the mystery behind du Plantier’s death and her family’s ongoing quest for justice.
