His debut was on December 3, 1983 and his final appearance for Watford came on September 21, 1996 – there are very few players who can boast having as long a first-team career at Vicarage Road as Gary Porter.
During the intervening years, the Sunderland-born midfielder played 470 times – placing him third on Watford’s all-time appearance list – and found the back of the opposition net on 56 occasions.
