New figures released by the RSPCA reveal a distressing reality: there were 455 reports of cruelty towards dogs in Northamptonshire last year. These reports encompass intentional harm, neglect, and abandonments, painting a bleak picture of the treatment of man's best friend.
These heart-wrenching statistics have been released as part of the RSPCA's Cancel Out Cruelty campaign. The campaign aims to raise funds to support the frontline rescue teams in their mission to save animals from cruelty and abuse.Sarah Bate, RSPCA chief inspector for Northamptonshire, said: “For hundreds of years dogs have been known as man’s best friend - and if you share your home with one, you will know why, as they are such loyal and loving companions.
"While we don’t know for certain why there has been an increase, the cost of living crisis and the post-pandemic world we live in has created an animal welfare crisis.
