In the UK, almost half of women who start out breastfeeding have stopped by six weeks.

So what do you do if you find yourself in this position? Firstly, talk about it. I didn’t realise that what I was feeling was breastfeeding grief until I spoke to my friend Dee, a successful PR Account Director, about her own experience.

“What I realised when I started processing my breastfeeding grief was that me not being able to directly nurse my baby didn’t define me as a mother,” she says. “It’s a two-way process and not something that we can control. Accepting that really gave me peace.” was a game changer for me – small and silent, it fits in your bra so you can pump hands-free, which was a real lifesaver when I was on the busy hospital ward with my daughter.Mothers and babies are at risk of dying in prison, so why are we still locking up pregnant women?When you want to stop your milk supply, make sure you do it gradually – if not you could suffer from engorgement, which can lead to blocked milk ducts or mastitis.
