Sol Solomon is Marine AFC's top goalscorer in the FA Cup this season as they look to cause an upset against FC Halifax Town in their fourth qualifying round encounter
Two years ago, Sol Solomon was leading in the race to win the FA Cup Golden Boot in a historic season for Jersey Bulls.That run came to an end as they were edged out by Chertsey Town but it was their star attacker, with his standout white boots, that shone throughout their ride in the illustrious tournament.
The attacker has caught the eye since his move from Jersey, taking seamlessly to the jump up in divisions after leaving the Bulls in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South. He added: “I don’t think it feels real, we play in the preliminary and qualifying rounds, the further you get, the more real it gets and on Saturday if you score it’s a big occasion.With the Football League teams lying in wait, Saturday poses the fourth time in five years that the Mariners have reached this stage of the competition. Already this season, they have played five times being drawn away from the Marine Travel Arena in every round they featured in.
During the summer, Young moved to reinforce his squad after missing out on the playoffs in their first season back at the level. The change has proved to be a positive one with Marine challenging in the playoffs after nine games. Meanwhile, there is a new desire for the new crop of players to forge a chapter of their own with no sense of weight from what has been achieved previously.
