Videos have been circulating on the platform warning users about 24 April as a day
Kathryn Goldby, from South West Grid for Learning , said the harmful “trend” began in response to feminist movements, including the MeToo campaign and theShe said: “This was a horrible hoax that came off the back of someone making a really sick joke. It was never intended to be taken seriously but it caught on quite virally.She said it was hard to track any original content in April 2021 inciting violence and similarly this year, reports have mainly consisted of content intended to warn people.
While content intended to warn people may be “well intentioned”, it can have the adverse effect of “perpetuating the virality of it”, she added.
