The broadcaster and Celtic fanatic used a sombre tone to warn his great mate of new information he was aware of.
Cheeky Alan Brazil revelled in his latest wind-up aimed at sparring partner Ally McCoist as he claimed Rangers boss Michael Beale was in line for the axe.
The broadcaster and Celtic fanatic used a sombre tone to warn his great mate he was reading information which claimed the Englishman was the betting favourite to be the next manager to go. But the former Manchester United and Ipswich star – met with stunned silence from McCoist – quickly told his on-air colleague he was only teasing.
And an emboldened McCoist was quick to big up the 2-2 draw with PSV which gives Beale and his Rangers charges a live shot of reaching the Champions League for the second consecutive season ahead of the second leg in Eindhoven next Wednesday. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "Here's what I will say and it is amazing and you will know what I am talking about. I thought Rangers were excellent last night against a side who were technically better than them.
"But you know what it is like being an Old Firm manager. The best result Michael Beale has probably had in the last 10 days is Kilmarnock beating Celtic and knocking them out of the Cup. When I say it's their best result, Rangers now have to go and win that Cup. Being a Rangers and Celtic manager, it's simple, you get judged against each other because you have got to win."
But Brazil's sledging of McCoist was only starting and he commented on the mantlepiece behind the Rangers legend as he was joining the broadcast by video link. He added: "There's more in there than there is in the Ibrox ."
