300 school leavers flock to Lancashire 'stand down parties' in parks and cemeteries as safeguarding fears raised over alcohol, drugs and weapons
Urgent safeguarding fears have been raised by police as thousands of teenagers across Lancashire celebrate the end of their GCSE exams.
The email alert read: "Dear Resident, if you are a parent or guardian of a teenager or current school leaver you may very well be aware of what is referred to as stand down parties. We just wanted to make sure that everybody is aware of the potential pitfalls and safeguarding issues around such gatherings.
"I realise as the parent of a 16 year old myself it's a hard task to dissuade your child from attending such parties. However if they do please take steps to keep them as safe as possible.
