A basket of goods cost £68.60 on average across the month
Aldi was the UK’s cheapest supermarket in May, according to consumer champion Which? Their monthly analysis involves comparing the cost of 40 popular grocery items at eight of the UK’s biggest supermarkets.
A basket of goods at Aldi cost £68.60 on average across the month, saving shoppers more than £18 compared to the most expensive store. The results mean Aldi has been the cheapest supermarket for 12 consecutive months, according to Which? research, reportsLidl was in second place, costing £1.91 more , widening the difference in April which was just a 65p. In comparison, Waitrose came out as the most expensive for the month, with a basket of goods totalling £86.91 – 23.
