Aldi shoppers have brought to light how quickly products can fall into and back out of favour over item dubbed "last year's Prime drink".

Aldi announced Prime would be sold in its supermarkets from December 29, as parts of its Specialbuy offering. Given the popularity of the hydration drink, the budget retailer was forced to put rules in place around how many bottles could be purchased at any time. The drink was available in three flavours, Blue Raspberry, Lemon and Lime and Ice Pop, with customers only allowed to purchase one of each flavour, with the bottles costing £1.99 each.

In January 2022, various outlets reported shoppers went wild for Aldi's Sleep Tea, which continued to sell out in stores nationwide. The flower, camomile and apple flavoured herbal teabags, which were 89p at the time and now cost £1.05, received rave reviews from customers who swore it helped them sleep easily and soundly.

She said: "Is nobody buying sleepy tea this year? This time last year you had more chance of getting a sun tan". Other Aldi shoppers were quick to respond.
