In idiosyncratic style, the pieces are informed by Dante’s. ‘Rental was such a natural and organic step, as it allows the statement atelier pieces to be accessible for everyone. I love the idea of each piece being imbued with one woman’s story, and then passed on to the next,’ she says.The one-of-a-kind pieces weave Dante’s mythical references into textured and flowing silhouettes for an other-worldy elegance.
‘I think of the veils as woven tapestries. We all weave the chapters of our stories together in such a unique way, the veils are inspired by the notion of using our narratives of imperfection as armour and strength,’ adds Mahtani. ‘I worked closely with our head of our Atelier, Frankie, to find ways to balance the couture-like aesthetic with functionality. For instance, the veils are quite chameleon-like; they can be attached to the hair with bobby pins, or even pinned to a suit pocket.
