Schools around Lancashire will be closed tomorrow
Teachers in England have rejected a pay offer from the Government that would have seen salaries rise by 4.5% on average next year, alongside a one-off payment of £1,000 for this year.Across Lancashire, more than 20 schools will not open tomorrow because of the industrial action. Members of the National Education Union , the Association of School and College Leaders , the National Association of Head Teachers and NASUWT earlier this month voted to turn down an offer made to them.
Teachers and leaders were also offered an average pay rise of 4.5% from September 2023. The strikes have forced the closure of more than 20 primary and secondary schools across Lancashire, including in Burnley, Chorley, Lancaster, Preston, South Ribble, West Lancashire and Wyre.Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College, a Voluntary Academy - partially closed. The school is only open for pupils in Year 11 pupils.
