Nadiem Amiri turned down to offer to sign Leeds United in summer despite travelling to West Yorkshire
Former Leeds United transfer target Nadiem Amiri looks to have been frozen out by Bayer Leverkusen following his proposed move to Elland Road. Having seen Leverkusen accept a transfer bid from last month, Amiri travelled to Leeds for talks with the club and the expectation was that he would pen a contract to represent Daniel Farke’s side in the Championship.
However, it seems Amiri hasn't been welcomed back to the BayArena with open arms by coach Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard was willing to name him on his bench on September 1 as Leverkusen continued their impressive start to the season with a 5-1 win over Darmstadt, but opportunities for game time look set to be few and far between moving forward.
A second approach from Leeds looks unlikely at this stage given the way talks broke down between the two parties, despite the Whites dearth of attacking midfield options. Amiri, though, will no doubt be doing all he can to resurrect his career over the coming months by either winning over Alonso or lining up an escape route.
