A man who served 17 years in jail for a rape he did not commit has said he feels 'vindicated' after he won further grounds to clear his name
The 57-year-old says the evidence needed to clear his name had been"sitting in police files for the past two decades".A man who served 17 years in jail for a rape he did not commit has said he feels"vindicated" after he won further grounds to clear his name.
Following Monday's ruling, he said:"I feel vindicated by the court's finding that Greater Manchester Police unlawfully withheld evidence, denying me a fair trial and causing my wrongful conviction nightmare. He also asked for the CCRC's chair Helen Pitcher to apologise"and take accountability for the CCRC's failures, which cost me extra years behind bars for a crime I did not commit".
