Rangers and Scottish football legends united in grief to pay an emotional farewell at the funeral of goalkeeping greatafter the 58-year-old passed away earlier this month following a short battle with oesophageal cancer.
Goram's funeral took place at The Wellington Church in Glasgow's Hillhead after crowds had lined the streets of Blantyre, outside one of his favourite pubs the Stonefield Tavern owned by close friend Stan Gordon, and Ibrox Stadium as the funeral procession passed through. Goram had told loved ones that he didn’t want mourners to wear black with one of his last wishes for friends, family and fans to wear blue Rangers club ties instead. Thousands of supporters turned out to pay their respects to a man who served the club with such distinction.
A floral tribute with 'Papa Goalie' accompanied by a pair of goalkeeping gloves sat on the front step of Ibrox Stadium. Goram represented Scotland 53 times and his former national team bossLegendary former boss Walter Smith's assistant during Goram's time in charge, Archie Knox, was also pictured along with nine-in-row captain Richard Gough and team-mates and close pals
