Fury over 'shocking' and 'shameful' state of memorial to fallen PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes

Broken and neglected it is meant to be a garden in memory of two GMP officers who gave their lives on the frontline. Next month marks the 11th anniversary of the murder of PCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone.

"As per usual the SLT are only interested when a photo opportunity comes along - however those that see this everyday and have known them personally I deeply p.....off about it. I feel that this should be put out there in the hope that someone will address it urgently. From a concerned member of the Tameside Community."

PC Hughes, 23, from Saddleworth and PC Bone, 32, from Sale, were shot dead by Cregan on September 18th 2012. Cregan had been on the run, after murdering gangland rivals Mark Short and his father David. He lured the two officers to an address in Mottram in Longdendale, Tameside, with a bogus report of a burglary. He shot them dead and threw a grenade on their bodies in killings which shocked Britain.

Mr Cameron said that the officers' murder had been "an act of pure evil" adding that it "shook the policing family to its very core"
