Viewers were united in horror on Monday night when episode two of ITV drama Anne covered the fact that there had been 42 ambulances outside the stadium that were unable to reach the Hillsborough victims.
‘Why wouldn’t they let the ambulances through????’ asked one social media user, while another wrote: ‘Bit of an emotional wreck again tonight after watching episode 2 of #Anne on #ITV. Horrified to discover that the ambulances were there but not allowed in! Unbelievable and disgraceful.’Another commented: ‘Forty two ambulances were told to wait outside the ground….FORTY TWO…this disaster should never have happened and could have been prevented…I am so glad they kept fighting for justice.
