A driving expert has warned anyone who is driving with a learner to be aware of this simple phone mistake they may make, as it could result in a £1,000 fine.

While the majority of the Highway Code is understandable and is known by the population, there are some obscure driving laws that some people may not be aware of. Car finance provider, Go Car Credit, have put together a list of the most uncommon driving laws that are broken in the UK. One that sticks out the most is the fact that anybody sitting with a learner driver at the wheel could be fined if they are spotted on their phone. When supervising a learner, you have a responsibility to keep an eye on the road and their driving behaviour.

Breaking this law can result in a fine of up to £1,000 and six penalty points.Hayley O’Connor, Head of Marketing at Go Car Credit said: "It’s every driver’s responsibility to make sure that they’re up to date on the law.
