APPLE staffers are openly revolting over the tech-giant's plans to scan iPhones for child abuse images - amid fears users' privacy could be compromised.
Many of the workers expressed concerns that such a feature could be exploited by hardline government regimes seeking proof to censor or arrest, some anonymous employees told Some believe the scanning tech could lead toward complete encryption of the company’s iCloud accounts for those who opt for it, according to Reuters.The new tool is called neuralMatch, and after it scans a users’ pictures, if a match is flagged it will be reviewed by a person.
If child pornography has been verified by human eyes, the user's account will be disabled and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children prompted.
