'I find it respectful, the Irish people learning my language' Pupils at a County Tyrone school are learning Arabic so they can speak it to Syrian students

English-speaking students in Sacred Heart College Omagh, County Tyrone, are learning his native language as part of a five-week online course. "Sometimes in class I would get the Syrian students to go up to the board and write their names in Arabic and the children are fascinated," Ms McAnea said.Earlier this year, the Syrian students learned about Irish culture by participating in Gaelic games
"We have nine different languages spoken in the school so it's important that our children realise the wealth and richness that those children bring to our school," she said.Bahaa said helping the other students learn his native language makes him feel specialHe attends the Arabic classes to help English-speaking students with the language.
