Incident occurred late last night in the Middleton area
Armed police were involved in a tense stand-off with a man armed with an axe during a domestic incident in Leeds last night .
A large area of Sissons Street in Middleton, was cordoned off while officers tried to calm the man down and bring the incident to a safe conclusion. The stand-off lasted for over an hour and a half as specially trained negotiators spoke to the man. A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 11.15pm last night, police were called to a domestic incident in Sissons Street, Middleton, Leeds, where a man was refusing to leave a property and was in possession of an axe.

At 12.50am, the man was detained and arrested on suspicion of domestic assaults, possession of an offensive weapon, and criminal damage.Read next:
