A street in the east end of the city was locked down by cops yesterday, with Section 12 of Public Order Act invoked in an attempt to block the planned procession from moving forward.
Cops reportedly 'penned in a crowd' on London Road to prevent a 'procession' from taking place in the east end of the city yesterday, which was arranged by the International Brigades to pay tribute to those who fought against fascism in the Spanish Civil War.
Riot vans were reportedly stationed at locations including Glasgow Green, as officers acting under Section 12 of the Public Order Act 1986 aimed to minimise disruption due to the 'potential impact' of a counter-protest.
