Give your Wednesday Mailbox a read ahead of a big night of football...

Anyone will a sense of perspective knows that Arsenal have over-achieved just being in a title race. And Man City don’t spend, spend, spend.I like debate. I enjoy people’s passion. Their unwavering support. I want my team to win. I’ve just never understood tribalism. By which, I mean the tribalism whereby you’re happy saying utterly ridiculous things just because a team that isn’t your own, , is doing well.

Each year different teams will miss out on CL or European football. Chelsea are going to this season. Spurs may well do too. Does that mean they’ll miss out the following year? Absolutely not. Maybe I’m being overly hopeful but I’m finally seeing the potential for a PL where things are mixed up a bit. I don’t think this is a one-season December World Cup thing.

I’m totally on board with over celebrations as it’s what football is all about. If you can’t enjoy the highs with friends and family, then the beautiful game really isn’t for you. When I was a lad, the team that took more pelters than everyone else combined was always the most feared and successful team. Neither Arsenal nor United are anywhere near fitting that bill currently by even the stretchiest of stretching those margins so why are you both so keen to drag the other through the mud?

I’m not saying you can’t have differences, can’t discuss where we disagree, even passionately at times but where has the wit and charm gone from that discussion? No sources cited, no clarification of points, just gish-galloped noise and re-hashed catchphrases. In many cases, the novelty accounts are making more sense these days. The Erstwhile Harold HoolerThere’s lots of whinging about whether Arsenal should or could or would win the title but it’s not even decided yet.
