Arsenal vs Barcelona delayed by 30 minutes due to last-minute pitch repairs
Arsenal’s pre-season friendly win over Barcelona in Los Angeles was delayed by 30 minutes over concerns at the state of the pitch.
The Gunners were scheduled to take on the reigning La Liga champions at 3.30am on Thursday morning but the game was pushed back due to apparent issues with the SoFi Stadium pitch.Ground staff quickly got to work to make the pitch playableCredit: Getty The newly built 70,000-seater stadium located in Inglewood was the host of Super Bowl 56 in 2022 and is ironically owned by Arsenal supremo Stan Kroenke.Arsenal’s players were seen testing out the grass which had been laid over the surface just 48 hours earlier, by bouncing balls on it.
Ground staff scrambled to make the pitch more playable by patching up parts of the surface and applying water to it.
