A report will address dangerousness
A judge has adjourned for reports after a prison arsonist pleaded guilty to multiple offences of fire-starting. John Walker, aged 29, of Lowdham Grange Prison in Nottinghamshire, appeared before Nottingham Crown Court via a video link.
He admitted four charges of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered on various dates this year concerning cell fires at Ranby Prison, a category C training and resettlement prison. A pre-sentence report was ordered on Friday which will address the question of dangerousness. Judge Steven Coupland said he will be sentenced on October 13, and added: "I need to have some input why you did these things and whether there is a risk of you doing these things in the future."
