Nasa launches its Artemis 1 Moon rocket in 'historic mission for mankind'
NASA has launched its Artemis 1 Moon rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
It was third time lucky for Nasa's Space Launch System, which the space agency has been trying to launch since August.Credit: APThe rocket blasted off in the early hours of November 16.The US Space Agency's Administrator Bill Nelson said it was the biggest shockwave he'd seen from a launch.Read more on NasaThis is the first time Nasa has launched a rocket like this in decades.These are Nasa's Space Launch System , its Orion spacecraft, and the European Service Module .
The Orion spacecraft and the ESM should get within 62 miles of the lunar surface and then travel 40,000 miles beyond this.
