One of the many East Belfast success stories tells us how important it is to celebrate the East east_awards
Ashfield Girls' High School has been an avid supporter of the Eastside Awards since its inception 7 years ago, with winners in the categories of Teacher of the Year, Young Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and most recently were recognised for their Community Impact during Covid.
As a school in the heart of East Belfast, they are very proud of their roots and origins-built in 1948 in a prefabricated style by Short Brothers and Harland-iconic cornerstones of East Belfast.
The family of one former pupil, Krizzah Policarpio, a winner in the Young Person category and filmmaker, made their home in the east, and being part of this dynamic community led to Krizzah fulfilling her lifelong dream of visiting Los Angeles. This came to realisation in part because of her fundraising efforts in the area along with sponsorship and contributions from local businesses and organisations such as the Secret Day Spa, Clements Coffee and Belfast City Airport.
