Niall Barry is one of five men currently on trial accused of murdering 28-year-old council worker
One of the men accused of murdering Ashley Dale has admitted that he "lost face" after being robbed of drugs by the Hillsiders but says he "didn't resort to violence".
Barry said these substances had been in storage at an associate's house on the Hillside estate. He stated that a man called "Mark" had been looking after the drugs, although he claimed that he was unable to recall his second name, adding: "He was just someone who was on about £200 a week for storing the drugs."
When asked to name the thieves, he said: "I’m not 100% on who it actually was, just people from Hillside. I can’t say people’s names if I’m not 100% who it was." Barry agreed, saying "no, you can't". Mr Greaney added: "Where someone disrespects you and steals your drugs, you need to deal with it in a different way."Mr Greaney said: "If people discover you’re a soft touch who can be stolen from and won’t react, that’s hardly good for business. There are people who will steal from you as readily as saying hello.
Mr Greaney said: "The men who had damaged the car were not deterred. Fifty minutes later, at about 12.30am, they returned. "This time, they were not to be diverted from their intention to kill. One of the men approached the front door of 40 Leinster Road and he kicked it in. Ashley plainly became aware of what was happening. She screamed and fled towards the back door of the house, but the man entered the house and he pursued her.
"Lee Harrison seems to have had an association with the group of which Dusty was part. Whilst at the festival, Sean Zeisz was assaulted and his attackers included Jordan Thompson.
