At least 52 people have died in a fire that ripped through a multi-storey building in Johannesburg, South Africa, emergency services have said.

A further 43 people have been injured in the blaze in the country’s largest city and the death toll could still rise, emergency services spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said.A search and recovery operation was underway and firefighters were moving through the building, Mr Mulaudzi said, adding that the team had pulled 52 bodies out so far but more people could be trapped inside.
