Last time the rising Irish rock stars were in town, they sold out three nights at Victoria Warehouse.
DMAs - Canvas - July 20 There’s not a lot more exciting than one of your favourite bands coming to your city. It’s even better when that band, who you’re used to seeing top the bill at festivals, are playing one of the smallest venues in town. including ‘Delete’, ‘Everybody’s Saying Thursday’s The Weekend’ and ‘Lay Down’. It felt truly special to witness a band in the top of their game at such close range.
Let’s hope the small audience hasn’t put Mamalarky off coming back to Manchester. They’re a great group with plenty to say — and have a joyous way to say it. Fronted by Emmanuelle Proulx, the vocals are almost Arlo Parks-esque in their breathiness. But the band's influences seem to range from rock to dream pop - and they do it all brilliantly.
