The Fenwick Hotel says it has been losing customers to larger hotels using online booking, with the creation of four houses touted as way to support hotel extension.
A hotelier has suggested that a proposal to build four houses needs to get the go ahead to avoid the closure of his business as it competes with ‘online’ accommodation.
Mr Hendry’s new application states that the development will help support his business and ‘allow the hotel to develop the proposed additional services, thus avoiding closure’.The site is part of a rural protection area on the Kilmaurs Road and is currently being used as an overspill car park for the hotel. As it would make use of the land currently used as an overspill car park, the plans also lays out a proposed car park extension.
The design of the individual houses will be based upon the design of the houses constructed recently across Kilmaurs Road.
