Alan Wrigley, who has worked since the age of 15, explains what keeps him going
A B&Q floor worker has revealed what gets him up and going to work each morning despite having just celebrated his 90th birthday.
25-years ago, Alan's family were rocked when his eldest son died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Ever since he has fundraised for The British Heart Foundation, as well as various other charities. Over the years he has completing a series of challenges, including parachuting and bungee jumping, all in aid of good causes. And it's his fundraising and love for his job that he says keeps him want to carry on working despite his age.
And its his work Alan says is responsible for 'keeping his brain going'. But it's not just the customers that appreciate his enthusiasm and good service, this week his B&Q colleagues got together to throw a surprise party for his landmark birthday.His colleagues at the Oldham store presented him with a B&Q 90th birthday cake, along with a personalised apron with a birthday message in celebration of Alan.
