Tens of thousands of passengers are to be impacted by strikes coming this month

Passengers flying in August have been warned they face 'huge disruption' due to strikes including ground handlers responsible for things such as baggage transit. Those flying with Wizz Air from a specific airport have been told to expect delays in services as industrial action is taken.

It recently had to cancel a number of flights due to "accelerated inspections" of its engines taking place. The airline said that it would be contacting affected passengers and offering them options such as alternative flights, full refunds, or 120 per cent airline credit. In response to the industrial action, a spokesperson for Wizz Air said: "We are in touch with Luton Airport and our ground handling partner and are doing everything within our control to limit disruptions for passengers. In case of any disruptions, we will reach out to any affected passengers who booked directly with the airline via email and SMS and let them know their options as soon as we have an update.

Red Handling workers are scheduled to begin their first wave of strike action at 12.01am on Friday, August 18 with strikes concluding at one minute to midnight on Monday, August 21. The second strike will begin on 12.01 am on Friday, August 25, ending at 11.59pm on Monday, August 28.
