Social media has enabled an amateur team from east London to build a bigger audience than many professional clubs have
“I came in 2019,” Mensah says. “One of the guys asked me to come and play with the guys at a five-a-side session. I was a Baiteze fan before I even joined. In my first year, I was a bit shy and was just doing things behind the scenes. But eventually people saw what I was like off-camera and I got the confidence to do my thing. It has been a natural progression. I had to learn certain things to get to this point.
YouTube challenges and social media clips would later set them onto a new path of content creation, and six years on they have cemented themselves as one of the most well-known Sunday League teams in England. “The progression over the last six years has been phenomenal. We were the National Cup winners which made us officially the best Sunday League side in the country and the first team from east London to have won it.”
