Live reporting by Emily Mee and Faith RidlerThe BBC's acting chairwoman Dame Elan Closs Stephens steps in to give her view now.
As it began, the chairwoman Baroness Stowell made clear that the one-off session had been scheduled for"some weeks" and was not in response to any"particular event". Mr Davie went on to say he has"immediately" asked for a look into"what is red flagged" by the BBC to ensure"consistency" in the period of the review. We'll be hearing from the BBC's director-general Tim Davie, acting chairwoman Dame Elan Closs Stephens and policy director Clare Sumner as they face questions in parliament.
No additional attempts to contact the complainant are made after 6 June, however the case remains open throughout. The Sun newspaper contacts the BBC via the Corporate Press Office over allegations concerning the BBC presenter. A BBC incident management group, involving senior BBC executives and the Director General, is launched to lead the response to the claims and the acting chairman is updated.
Let it be known that there's no schadenfreude on the part of reporters standing outside. Edwards is hugely well-thought of as one of this country's finest broadcasters. But in a role that, by default, embodies BBC values, at the very least a level of integrity and honesty should come with that bumper six figure pay packet.
Officials from the broadcaster are to face questions in parliament about the"adequacy" of the BBC's governance arrangements. This is the first time Mr Davie will be questioned by someone outside the BBC since the Huw Edwards furore began. The media storm began when The Sun published allegations that an unnamed presenter had paid a young person £35,000 for sexually explicit images.
They said they became frustrated when the presenter remained on air, so decided to approach the newspaper instead.
