Fourth set of claims - presenter allegedly started Instagram chat with teen follower
They claimed the male presenter had first requested images in 2020, when the young person was 17, and that a series of payments were made over the years. A separate report this evening claimed the BBC star broke COVID lockdown rules to meet another young stranger. "He was always asking to meet and I found it quite pressurising. There were restrictions and they kept getting stricter but he constantly asked," they reportedly claimed.
"Instead, they suggest it was more about concerned parents trying to stop payments to a vulnerable child with a drug habit," The Guardian has said.A new report claims the BBC star broke COVID lockdown rules to meet another young stranger. The youth alleged the presenter had pressed them over the course of nearly two months to meet up, despite England being in a strict three-tier system.
The young person also alleged the star had made three payments to them - two of £200 and one of £250. The family members claimed the unnamed presenter sent £35,000 to the young person for sexually explicit images - which they alleged started when the youth was 17. However, he said there is"no doubt in my mind that the decision to publish this story was not taken lightly".A former Channel 5 chief executive has hit out at the media storm surrounding the BBC. "One of its employees is alleged to have done something. Was it criminal? In that case, it's a matter for the police."
The media has turned the crisis into a"free-for-all", he said, and BBC director-general Tim Davie into a"punch bag".
