Funeral and death notices for special Hyndburn people who died recently
Announcing the death of a family member has been a time-honoured tradition for family and loved ones. We have gathered the messages posted this week in one place.
A sociable man, Mick made many friends throughout his life and played a lifetime of competitive dominoes, with his last league team being Platt Social Club. Mick’s funeral took place on Thursday, September 15 at Accrington Crematorium, followed by a celebration of his life at the Canine Club, Accrington.
He then moved to English Electric in Clayton-le-Moors where he trained and worked as a fitter for many years. His final job and from where he retired was with William Blythe Chemicals where he started at the bottom and over many years worked his way up to works manager. Along with his family he loved caravan holidays in the Lake District. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed many hours in his allotment.
For the latter part of his career, he became a carer/cook at The Alex Home, Rough Lee, Accrington which at that time was for young adults with disabilities. It was a role that he loved greatly.
