Owen O'Neill missed weight by 10lbs for his fight against Declan Geraghty earlier this month
Padraig McCrory insists Owen O'Neill will bounce back from the online flak he received after missing weight by 10lbs for his recent fight with Declan Geraghty.
His manager, unbeaten super-middleweight boxer McCrory, says a "number of factors" contributed to the missed weight, which was heavily criticised by some boxing fans on social media."There were a lot of things going on with Owen recently, which impacted on his boxing. He was very close with his granny and granda who both passed away within the space of 18 months, and that took a toll," McCrory said.
"He is 12-0, and last year he got Irish knockout of the year. He is ready made for title fights but we are in no rush. O'Neill said he was "gutted" to miss out on an Irish title shot against Geraghty, which he had hoped to dedicate to his grandmother who had passed away."Owen was gutted about the Geraghty fight. He was genuinely gutted," said McCrory, who recently launched his own 'Hammer Boxing' management company.
