A support group in Belfast dedicated to helping those struggling with the cost of living crisis has stated that the situation has worsened compared to last year. The group provides food, clothing, and support with utilities to those in need. They are organizing a bake sale to raise funds for their cause.
A cost of living support group in Belfast has said the current cost of living crisis is worse than last year.
On Saturday, October 28, the group are running a bake sale between 12 to 3pm at Strand Presbyterian Church to raise vital funds to continue helping people across the city with essential items. "The elderly can't even afford basic essentials for everyday living. With the increase in fuel prices, daily essentials, and utilities like electricity and gas, as well as rent or mortgage payments - nobody is getting a break, and people can't make their money stretch further."
"People feel scared to approach groups like ourselves out of embarrassment, but we try to put everybody at ease. As we're all mums with children ourselves, what we're seeing pulls at our heartstrings as it's the thought of people in their houses with no heating and electricity with these winter months coming in, it's terrifying.
