There were plenty of on-track fireworks along the way, the same true off the track as Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and his Red Bull counterpart Christian Horner engaged in verbal conflict for much of the campaign. It has since emerged though that Red Bull overspent in 2021, the first season where the budget cap was active, designed to limit teams to a spend of $145m.The FIA has not yet revealed what action Red Bull will face, with past comments from Formula 1 managing director Ross Brawn having resurfaced where he warned that if a team fraudulently broke the cost cap, then they would lose their title.
