US Senator Bernie Sanders has said he would be “nervous” about the Labour Party bringing in more partnerships with the private sector, and described it as the “wrong direction”
February 26, 2023 8:30 am
He continued: “The function of the private sector is not to provide quality care. The function of healthcare is not complicated, everybody should be entitled to the best care the system can provide, not to have a system in which insurance companies make huge amounts of money.”last month, Sir Keir said that Labour would cut waiting times in the NHS by “temporarily ramping up partnerships with private providers”, but insisted this would be a “short reprieve”.
Asked on Sunday if both Mr Sunak and Sir Keir should consider pursuing a more “radical” policy agenda, Mr Sanders responded: “Yes.” “I think working people, nurses, bus drivers, I think those people deserve decent wages, they deserve wages that can at least keep up with inflation.”for not doing enough to raise taxes for wealthy individuals, claiming “he is moving but not as far as I would like to see”.
