From picking to carving, here's where you can get your Halloween pumpkins sorted this year
Pumpkin festivals and events are running at various sites in and around Greater Manchester where kiddies can pick their own to take home - and enjoy a host of other activities too.
Tickets are £2.95 per person for adults and children - infants under 18 months go free - and can be booked online. The entry ticket does not include a pumpkin. These are available to buy and are priced according to size. There are various photo opportunities to get those all-important snaps including a giant chair, as well as vintage tractors and a new wagon train for families to enjoy rides around the orchards.
Pumpkins are priced on size and start from £1. Tickets cost £6.90 per car and can be booked on the website here. If you think you'll go more than once you can get a season pass, offering limited access throughout pumpkin season, for £10 for up to five people.Cockfields Farm, Ashton The Pumpkin Festival is back at Cockfields Farm this year with a whole host of activities.
The event's running on October 14 and 15 and then daily from October 21 to 29. Tickets, costing £20 for children and £15 for adults , can be booked online. Under ones cost £5. You can pay an extra £15 for a build a bear experience where little ones get to stuff their own teddy and give it a heart.Smithills Open Farm, Bolton A Pumpkin Picking event is running at Smithills from October 21 to 31.
Halloween On The Farm, Lancaster Park and Animal Farm, Oldham Pumpkin picking is including in the attraction's Halloween On The Farm event, which is back for 2023. The event is running over the weekends of October 7/8 and 14/15 and then daily from October 20 to 29. Haigh Woodland Park, Wigan There'll be hundreds of pumpkins ready for the picking at Haigh Woodland Park this year.Every ticket holder will have 30 minutes to pick their pumpkin and have photographs with their pumpkin and the special live Halloween characters who will be roaming the woodland pumpkin arena. The session will be then be followed by a 15 minute song and dance show with the Halloween characters.
To help manage the traffic, free tickets need to be booked for the busiest times - weekends and half term week from October 23 to 27.There'll be hot drinks and food and a marquee with pumpkin merchandise, including vinyl stickers to avoid any carving at all. The Coffee Stop will be serving brews, cold drinks and tray bakes too. See the Facebook page here for more details.Reddish Vale Farm, Stockport There's pumpkin picking at Reddish Vale this year as part of its Halloween Festival, which is bigger than ever and already more than 50% sold out.
Of course there's all the usual fun of the farm too with the animals and outdoor play, including giant bouncing pillows, zip wires and a beach area with sand and toys. And there's food and drink, including Grandpa Greene's ice cream.
