What a convincing victory for the Bills tonight despite the turnovers.
The things that could have been concerning for Buffalo in this game — a first-time offensive coordinator, uncertainty at cornerback, on the road against a good team, etc — were not issues for the Bills at all. We could not know how those things would go, but there was reason for concern until Buffalo proved otherwise, which Buffalo sure did.The sheer physical dominance of Josh Allen is so striking. The Rams' Matthew Stafford is a good pro quarterback, and physically pretty strong.
The Rams' offensive line really struggled, at first glance. Stafford completed some passes when he had time. Too frequently, he either could not find anyone open, or the pressure was too much. It was not just Von Miller, either. The Bills' defensive front in general seemed to control this game. Allen Robinson was invisible, a surprise and disappointment from a Rams standpoint. Robinson had one reception for 12 yards. Surely the Rams had some sort of plan for him in this game, no? Cris Collinsworth kept talking about how much the Rams missed OBJ in conjunction with Kupp. Wait, was OBJ in his prime last season? Would you rather have 2021 OBJ or 2022 Robinson? I've got to think the Rams will be more successful getting the ball to Robinson as the season progresses.
It's only one game, but a great opener for the Bills. They validated the offseason hype and notched an affirming quality victory against the defending Super Bowl champs.
