Police have issued an important update
Police say a fire that broke out at a Blackpool hotel earlier this week has caused 'irreparable damage' in an update today .
A huge emergency response was launched following the fire, including 12 fire engines sent to the scene - with two aerial ladder platforms to douse the flames from above, a stringer and a drone unit. A cordon remains in place and roads are still closed today even though the fire has been extinguished.Police are now appealing for witnesses and footage of the fire. Officers say they are working closely with colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue to establish the cause of the fire.
DC Dan Knowles, of Blackpool CID, said: “This fire has caused irreparable damage to this building and required a significant emergency response. While I’m keeping an open mind to its cause, I would ask anybody with information or footage which could assist our enquiries to make contact as soon as possible.”
He said: "I saw all of the smoke, all of the commotion, it was really really bad. Since then, Empress Drive has been used as a way through for all of the cars, so it's been really really noisy."
