What a great night! Great pictures of all the action at Blackpool Illuminations tonight
Blackpool Illuminations are glowing once again. Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen had the honours of flciking the giant golden switch to spark the lights into life for another year, following a 90-minute live concert at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
Councillor Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said: “Laurence is one of our greatest ambassadors" when it was announced her would be replacing Johnny Vegas, who pulled out of switch-on duties due to 'personal circumstances'. Thousands swarmed Blackpool's promenade to be among the first to catch a glimpse of the world-famous lights for the first time this year. They will now stay lit until January 3 and the switch on times each night can vary, with full details here.
