“Our vision was to build a community and introduce people to a hobby they may not have considered before”
Since opening its doors a year ago, a games café in Co Down has become home to a growing community of people of all ages who enjoy all things table-top, including board games, role playing games, card games and much more.It was founded by school friends Aaron Bushby and Harry Singer, locals whose business was inspired by their passion for all things gaming.
There is, of course, a wide selection of more than 250 board games ranging from classics like Scrabble, Chess, and Monopoly to modern favourites like Root, Catan, or Ticket to Ride. Harry added: “The community gathers online in the café's official Discord server, a social media platform designed around providing a place for groups with shared interests, currently sitting at over 400 members.”
Roast & Roll is also a retail business, selling everything from bespoke dice to top-of-the-line wargaming models. All cakes and buns, baked in-house by Harry, are nut free, a quality that is particularly important to Aaron, who suffers from a nut allergy himself.
