SUPERSTAR LETTER WRITER: Milan Paul Kumar, 11, from Bolton began his letter-writing hobby during lockdown
Milan became pen pals with 15 residents in care homes across the UK during lockdown as part of the National Literacy Trust'sscheme to combat isolation and loneliness among older adults. Even today, Milan continues to write and visit his pen pals. Pete Kenny, 89, was Milan's first pen pal. Milan began writing to him during lockdown, and these days also visits him on a regular basis. It's a friendship built through the power of letter writing.
The young boy was also nominated as Bolton News Young Person of the Year by the local care homes for his letter writing. He is also a Diana Award Recipient and an #iwill Ambassador for his social action in the community.
