Advantage Card shoppers will receive less rewards on every £1 spent in exchange for a more generous discount
Boots has introduced a dramatic change to the value of Advantage Point customers receive when they purchase both in-store and online.
From today, Advantage Card shoppers will get 25 per cent less than previously for every £1 spent. This means they will earn 3p, instead of 4p. The pharmacy and beauty product chain previously warned customers of the change in March, stating it was in "response to the changing way that customers are using the loyalty scheme". It added that customers wanted "on-the-spot lower prices and instant value", the Mirror reports.As a caveat, customers will now receive an instant 10 per cent discount when they shop for Boot's own-brand products with the loyalty card.
Boots highlighted that there will be "more opportunities" to earn double or extra points thanks to new promotions and campaigns. Commenting on the change, Pete Markey, chief marketing officer at Boots said: “Customers want instant savings so we’ve expanded Price Advantage to a huge 1,000 lines each month, with savings on some of our big name and most popular products.
"And with more customers choosing our own label products, we’re also adding an always on, instant 10% off our Boots Brand range, giving Boots Advantage Card holders money off 1000s of quality products from our trusted Boots brand.”
