Shafeer Rishad pled guilty to a drink-driving charge that happened on January 26.
A man who crashed into a parked police car on the A9 while drink-driving has been handed a ban. Shafeer Rishad, 25, from Glasgow, previously pled guilty to drink driving and was sentenced to 200 hours of community service and a 20-month disqualification at Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday.
Fortunately, there were no injuries and the officers were not in the stationary car at the time. They were assisting with the recovery of a vehicle from an unconnected incident. Inspector Donnie Mackinnon, of the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit, said: “This incident highlights the dangers of drink-driving and how it adversely affects a driver’s decision making, awareness and cognitive ability. We are thankful that no-one was injured as a result.
