As a club we want to do as much as we can to help the family."In a statement issued to local station KCLR, they said: “St Kieran’s College deeply regrets that a tragic accident happened at lunchtime involving a young student of our school.“This is a terrible tragedy for his family, friends, parish and all in our school community. You will understand the need for privacy at this time.
He told the Irish Sun: “What a tragedy. He lives near the Church here in Gowran, and was confirmed here in 2019. “We heard it was just a game of hurling, which he loved, and it was just an accident. We will speak to his family when they are ready, and they have our prayers.”He said: “It is such a terrible tragedy. The family will have huge community support behind them.“Words just fail you that this tragedy happened at school, every pupil will be heartbroken and their families.
“But I would appeal for privacy for this young man’s family, it is so sad and his family are well loved, and just lovely ordinary people. “I’m sending them my deepest sympathy and am appealing for everyone to give them time to grieve, and keep them in their prayers.”Credit: Ciaran McGowan - The Sun Dublin
